Study demonstrates Information Builders can offer as much as $1.7m in savings over competitors

Information Builders, the enterprise () solutions and real-time Web reporting tools supplied by ICL, has announced that a new Ventana Research study has named Information Builders as the vendor offering the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for both user-defined and parameterised reports.

Based on a series of scenarios that evaluated leading business intelligence vendors, the study revealed a variance as high as $1 669 429 per scenario when comparing Information Builders` cost for reporting deployments compared with the highest priced vendors evaluated.

Ventana Research conducted the six-month study to independently audit and certify leading business intelligence vendors` TCO across real-world cases. Information Builders beat all participating competitors, including Cognos and Informatica in the categories of predefined reporting on both Windows and Unix platforms, as well as parameterised reporting. Business Objects did not participate in the study.

"As these types of reports have broad user appeal and application relevance across an organisation, they represent the majority of the business intelligence market," explained ICL solutions manager of the Systems Integration and Business Intelligence (SIBI) unit Twanette Jurd.

"Furthermore, this report backs up what our customers have been telling us all along. Our customers buy from us because we provide an extremely cost-effective option among the highest ranked BI solutions in the market."

"The scenarios for predefined and parameterised reporting revealed Information Builders as significantly less expensive than many of its competitors," said Eric Rogge, Ventana Research`s vice-president and research director for BI. "Clearly they offer customers a competitive product set at a very attractive price point."

The Ventana Research study also underscored Information Builders` strength in its ability to scale. Information Builders maintained its lowest-TCO rank across a broad range of scenarios, from 1 000 to 10 000 users. Information Builders scored first in three of the 10 000-user scenarios and second in six of the 10 000-user scenarios.
