Success depends on the ability to develop a truly adaptive enterprise to cope with the challenge of constantly changing technology, says Hewlett-Packard.

"Hewlett-Packard`s approach to creating an adaptive enterprise is through connecting the elements of hardware, and services," says Francesco Serafini, HP Technology Solutions Group senior VP for the EMEA region.

"Technology will continue to develop, but what`s really important is to have a to ensure this new technology can be used to support the business needs," says Serafini. "The need for IT to be flexible with the business is a concept that is already well understood in SA."

Lyman Smith, HP SA Technology Solutions Group country manager, agrees. "There is a growing locally and we are particularly seeing traction in South African companies that are in the global marketplace, such as telecommunications, where they need to respond to market changes quickly."

Serafini explains that HP`s approach to ensuring the IT flexibility needed for an enterprise to be adaptive is achieved through a process of simplification, standardisation, modularisation and integration.

HP is taking this message to a growing number of emerging countries as it seeks to expand development and investment, particularly in the African, Middle East and Eastern European regions.

"In the past two years, HP has increased its investment initiatives because we believe in development in emerging countries for the future," affirms Serafini. "HP is very committed to investment and making sure we are good citizens by providing conditions for growth."
