Success with proprietary solutions

Johannesburg, 04 Mar 2010

allabout projectmanagement today announced it has concluded a major transaction with Nedbank, which will enable the financial institution to capitalise on significant investments that it has made in its project management toolkits over the past five years. Under the terms of the new venture, allaboutprojectmanagement will commercialise these toolsets.

The agreement will see Nedbank outsourcing the ownership, maintenance and continued development of the application suite to allabout projectmanagement. “We are particularly excited to have the opportunity of working with Nedbank on this initiative. The venture will enable both allaboutprojectmanagement and Nedbank Group Technology to focus on our core competencies,” said Nic Walters, Director of allabout projectmanagement. “Nedbank verified that this toolset is world-class and currently ahead of any other solution of its kind available in the industry by a benchmark study conducted in 2008.”

Peter de Beer, Nedbank's Executive in charge of the Programme Office, explained: “We recognised that our core focus is not the development of project management software, and we identified product stagnation as a real risk. Ongoing and specialist focus was required to ensure that the leadership of these tools was sustainable compared to commercial off-the-shelf software. Recognising allaboutprojectmanagement's stated focus in the segment, we pursued this relationship with them and are pleased with the outcome.”

Walters concluded: “We are confident that this initiative will ensure that the toolsets are nurtured in an environment with multiple customers, with a focus on keeping abreast of international trends and practices. This, in turn, will enable the project toolkits to meet their full market potential. It would be a significant boost to put South Africa on the implementation map with regard to project management.”
