Sun backs Indian e- school
Sun Microsystems India and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) have set up the Sun-IIT Delhi Centre of Excellence in e-governance at the IIT Delhi campus, reports SDA India.
The centre is an outcome of the memorandum of understanding signed by Sun and IIT in September 2006.
Sun says the objective behind setting up the centre is to carry out research in related areas of e-governance, to educate governmental stakeholders and to contribute to a better social infrastructure, lowered cost of running the government and enhanced security.

GRC must rebuild image
Stung by charges that customers never saw risks coming, vendors of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software are rebuilding their image, says CFO Magazine.
During the stock market meltdown, risk management and governance issues raced to the forefront while compliance, which tends to be at the core of most GRC products, receded into the shadows, at least temporarily.
"Compliance was really not a big factor in the meltdown," says Marc Othersen, senior security and risk management analyst at business technology research firm Forrester Research. "There were some compliance issues, but it was the risk and the governance [parts] where people had the whammies."
