Sun gets tech veteran

Sun Microsystems has reined in Middle East IT industry veteran Marc Heger as general manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, reports ITP.net.

At the same time, the company says its managing director for the territory has moved to Sun's emerging markets division, to identify new business development opportunities for the vendor to pursue.

Johann Muller, systems director for emerging markets at Sun, says: “Sun's customer and community in the MENA markets are set to benefit from the regional knowledge and expertise that Marc Heger brings to his new role as general manager.”

Newport Digital Technologies appoints CEO

Newport Digital Technologies has appointed Gary DeMel as its chief executive officer (CEO), states Earth Times.

DeMel has held several senior management positions within Intel, ATI, and Level One Communications in driving their efforts into the worldwide leadership positions in wireless, computing, networking, gaming and graphic markets.

Newport Digital chairman Richard Damion says DeMel will focus immediately on driving the expansion of the company's technologies and strategic worldwide channel partners.

Milestone hires CFO

Milestone Systems, an open platform company based in Denmark that focuses on IP video management software, has hired Kasper Boel Rousoe as chief financial officer (CFO), reports SourceSecurity.com.

The company says Rousoe will drive collaboration between the human resource department and the financial department.

Rousoe has extensive international experience in the IT and finance industries, coming from positions as finance director and CFO for EMEA at Lenovo and CFO for the personal computing Nordic region at IBM.
