Sun International, one of southern Africa`s largest gaming groups, has opted for the Nortel Networks technology platform for its computer systems, following 3Com Corporation`s move to transition out of the enterprise network market, The systems catering for the gaming and general business administration at most of Sun International`s 17 casino and hotel sites in the region are currently based on 3Com networking products.
The decision to move its network technology focus towards Nortel Networks came after the 3Com withdrawal announcement.
It was made in association with the DNS Group - a JSE-listed Dimension Data Holdings sub sidiary - the principal network technology supplier to Sun International.
"Nortel Networks offers a solution that meets the immediate and future network requirements of Sun International`s strategy says Bob Barrowman CIO of Sun International.
"Nortel Networks will link multiple system platforms and technologies into one integrated pathway combining data, telephony and wireless services, which will align significantly with the Sun International long term business strategy," he says.
In the short term, the new Sun International casino complex in Port Elizabeth will implement Nortel Networks
products immediately with the assistance of DNS.
DNS have been involved with Sun International in the design and maintenance of the Group`s networks, for the gaming campus environments, over the past nine years.
