Q Vector, part of the PQ Africa group, recently became the first Sun Microsystems reseller in South Africa to achieve the Datacentre Certified Partner status. Q Vector is currently the only reseller in South Africa trained, skilled and certified to deliver Datacentre Solutions with the Sun Microsystems` product line.
"This new status confirms Q Vector`s strong position to deliver Sun Microsystems computing solutions in the UNIX open systems environment for the datacentre," says Tim Schumann, Group Executive at PQ Africa. "These systems have the proven capability to run mission-critical applications."
Adds Mike Gomersall, Channel Operations Manager, Sun Microsystems - Middle East & Africa: "Not many partners achieve this level of expertise, but once they do, like Q Vector just has, they are capable of providing solutions for corporate datacentres or any other users of sophisticated IT solutions."
Schumann says that: "Q Vector, with its Sun Microsystems offering, is one of the cornerstones of our eBusiness infrastructure strategy. PQ Africa`s investment in developing the skills for this certification underlines our commitment to the high levels of service that our clients expect from us."
Sun Competency is a strategically designed training and certification program for Sun Microsystems partners. The program is designed specifically for partners, providing them with the technical skills, product knowledge and solution selling resources that are critical to success as a Sun Partner.
The Sun Competency programme is a tiered certification programme with three levels of certification, Workgroup, Enterprise and Datacentre.
Q Vector has 9 years of experience selling Sun Microsystems computing solutions in Southern Africa and has an installed marketshare of over 70%.
"We were also the first to install an E10000 in South Africa and were able to bring our extensive datacentre experience to bear in ensuring the success of this installation," says Schumann. "This certification emphasises Q Vector`s ability to supply network-centric computing solutions and its capability to continue being one of PQ Africa`s high growth lines of business."
