Sun Microsystems has appointed Gordon Christie as client services manager for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
Christie joins Sun SSA from IBM where he was client solutions executive for the IT outsourcing services division. His responsibilities included the formulation and delivery of complex services solutions.
"Gordon is a valuable addition to our team. With over 24 years in the IT industry, we look forward to drawing on Christie's expertise to grow Sun's market share and broaden the scope of our existing offerings to the market," says Vito Bonafede, regional director of Sun SSA.
Christie says that as client services manager, his number one priority is to build a sustainable service-focused organisation for Sun SSA. His responsibilities will particularly focus on working with Sun's iForce partners improving and increasing Sun SSA's services to customers.
Prior to IBM, Christie was a chief technology officer at De Beers. He was responsible for looking after the group's technical aspect. He intends applying his motto "always dealing with customers with integrity and making sure they get what they are looking for and more" to his new position with gusto.
Christie is looking forward to supporting Sun's business initiatives in Africa and meeting customers' expectations and supporting their business initiatives and/or goals.
