Sun pushes Open Storage
Sun Microsystems is approaching channel partners to push its Open Storage platform to mid-market customers, says CRN.
Open Storage, the new unified storage architecture promoted by Sun, is based on industry-standard hardware and open source technologies.
At the core of the Open Storage platform are some of Sun's well-known open source technologies and products such as Open Solaris and ZFS file systems, plus a number of third-party open source software products such as Amanda.

Open-E upgrades data storage offering
Open-E announced the availability of its sixth generation Data Storage Software (DSS) V6 IP-Storage operating system, states eWeek.
The DSS V6 storage management software, featuring an upgraded architecture, user interface and with more functionality than previous versions, can be downloaded from Open-E's Web site.
DSS V6 is a unified file and block storage management operating system that offers NAS, iSCSI, InfiniBand and fibre channel SAN functionality.
