Sun to appoint independent directors

Southeastern Management, Sun Microsystems' largest shareholder, has reached an agreement with Sun to appoint two independent directors to Sun's board, states World.

Southeastern, which holds about 22% of Sun's common stock, will be permitted to nominate the directors, who will then be jointly approved by the two companies.

The directors will be appointed "as soon as is reasonably practicable", the agreement states.

Privasoft names president

Privasoft, a provider of collaborative case management for managing freedom of information, access to information and privacy legislation compliance, has appointed Shafique Shamji as its president, effective immediately, according to PR Web.

Reporting directly to the board of directors, Shamji will be responsible for the company's overall strategic direction and management.

His mandate is to grow the company's leadership position in expanded markets and key geographies, including the US and UK.

Rackspace appoints board member

Hosting services provider, Rackspace, has appointed Fred Reichheld to its board of directors, says The Hosting News.

Reichheld is a Bain and Company fellow and the founder of Bain's loyalty practice. His pioneering work in loyalty practice has quantified the linkage between loyalty, profit and growth.

Lanham Napier, president and CEO of Rackspace Hosting, commented: “Fred will guide us on deepening our customers' loyalty to us by continually improving the service experience that Rackspace provides.''
