Supermicro Computer has announced its new P4DC6 Intel 860 high-end workstation/server motherboard, available locally through distributor Memtek-MMW.
According to Gary Naidoo, product manager: storage division at Memtek-MMW, the chipset supports dual Xeon processors, at speeds of 1.7GHz and above. "Main memory consists of dual channel 600/800MHz RDRAM, with a data bus bandwidth of up to 3.2GB/s implemented in two banks," he says.
The P4DC6 supports one 4xAGP Pro, one CNR, two 64-bit PCI (66MHz) and four 32-bit PCI (33MHz) slots, and dual Ultra DMA Bus Masters with 100MB/s burst data transfer rate, supporting UDMA Mode 5, PIO Mode 4, ATAPI, LS-120, and ATA ZIP drives. Additionally, the product comes with onboard Adaptec 7899W (7902 upgradeable from manufacturer) dual channel Ultra160 (320 optional) SCSI.
Other features include Suspend to RAM (STR), where all tasks are stored in RAM and can be resumed within 10 seconds from the minimum power consuming suspend mode, and Wake-on-LAN, allowing for remote network management and configuration of the PC, even when it is turned off. "This reduces the complexity of managing a network," explains Naidoo.
The chipset also feature an onboard 3-phase switching power regulator, which supports CPU core voltages from 1.1-1.85 volts and four tachometer fan connectors (for CPU, chassis, and thermal control fans).
