It should come as no surprise that a recent Ivanti study found that today only 13% of employees are happy to work exclusively in the office, while the remainder prefer to work either partly or fully remote. However -- while the morale and productivity benefits of a flexible work environment are without doubt -- the technical and operational considerations continue to present major challenges, especially when it comes to employee experience. Business leaders are more and more confronted with the task of balancing their teams’ productivity against the physical and mental wellbeing of each employee.
In Ivanti’s 2022 Report “The Need for Improved Digital Employee Experience” 10 000 IT professionals, executives and end-users around the world and across a broad range of industries were surveyed to gauge their opinions on the current state of the digital employee experience (DEX). The aim of the survey was to evaluate the level of prioritisation and adoption of DEX and the ways in which it shapes the daily working experiences of employees.
Key insights from the report include:
- Only 47% of IT professionals agree completely that their organisations have full visibility into every device that attempts to access their networks.
- 30% of IT leaders have no process or metrics in place for evaluating digital employee experience, while 38% rely on HR engagement surveys.
- 51% of employees believe their employers prioritise profitability over digital work experience.
- 49% of employees are frustrated by company-provided tech and 26% are considering leaving their job because of it.
The improvement of workforce productivity directly impacts an organisation's ability to attract and retain essential talent, accelerates business agility and competitiveness, reduces operational costs, and drives organisational success and profitability.
Looking at it another way – the Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) 2022 Report “Evolving Requirements for Digital Experience Management” demonstrated how the importance of managing employee digital experiences is easily quantified by evaluating the sheer number of events that impact workforce productivity.
The report found that on average, employees who regularly employ digital technology to perform job tasks are affected by an endpoint management challenge 919 times per year, which translates to about 3.67 issues per business day. Each of those disruptions can have a cascading effect on employee performance – and a company’s bottom line.
