SurfControl, the world`s number one Web and e-mail filtering company, introduced SurfControl Web Filter 4.5 for enterprise users of Microsoft`s Windows, Proxy and Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) servers.
The latest version of SurfControl Web Filter delivers improved network performance, advanced configuration and administration features. It also has greater scalability options for busy IT administrators to better manage network security and easily monitor and control Internet resources.

* Support for Gigabit Ethernet network cards, which enables Web filtering to be deployed in Gigabit Ethernet backbone networks and eliminates the need to purchase additional hardware.
* Simplified administration and management support for multi-server environments to capture recorded Internet activity in a single database.
* Remote system monitoring to provide status information and start/stop services on remote servers.
* Better connectivity with network switches because the Web Filter can perform Internet monitoring and blocking on separate network cards, eliminating the need for customers to deploy hubs.
Performance improvements
* Aura, SurfControl`s unique URL category list database structure reduces the database memory footprint requirements by 300% and improves use of available system memory.
* Use of Microsoft Database Engine (MSDE) 2000 as a default database provides faster and more stable data handling for improved performance, and supports databases up to 2GB.
* Auto-sensory capabilities to handle database bottlenecks and write temporarily to flat files. This gives "out of the box" improvements in filtering performance and simplifies configuration.

* An easy to use Report Wizard connects to the filter`s monitor interface and allows novice IT users to run new reports and set up on-going report schedules; a similar Rules Wizard also helps novices and experienced users create new filtering rules easily and quickly.
* The capability to monitor and run reports on network groups as well as individual users to understand and identify specific Internet patterns and activity.
