SuSE Linux, the German-based Linux company, has concluded a deal with local distributor Mico to build an African distribution channel for its products and services.
Stuart Daniel, MD of Cape Town-based Mico, says the agreement will see Mico distribute and provide support services for SuSE in Southern and Central Africa.
Vincenzo Bellini, VP of marketing for SuSE Linux Africa and Middle East, says: "Mico is a recognised leader in the distribution of computer hardware and software in SA, therefore making them an excellent choice for our partnership and distribution programme. Customers using SuSE Linux are now assured that a physical distribution and support channel exists in the region."
Daniel says Mico is also planning an original equipment manufacturer distribution which will see the company offering pre-installed SuSE boxes. The company will include SuSE Email Server III, Firewall on CD and database servers on its Mico server range.
"Mico is committed to delivering SuSE Linux solutions to its dealer community. Our customers can be assured that SuSE Linux is tightly integrated into our growth strategy and our staff will be fully certified on the SuSE Linux platform," adds Daniel.
