Switched on!

Johannesburg, 10 Sep 2002

Plantronics, the world leader in communication headsets, has launched its .Audio PC Headset Loudspeaker Switch, which allows computer users to leave both their headset and speakers permanently plugged in. They can choose to listen to music via their PC speakers or headsets, with the flick of a switch. The switch even mutes the headset microphone when users select loudspeakers, to avoid nasty, whistling feedback.

"More and more people are discovering that their PC can also be used as an entertainment centre, where they can listen to music, watch home videos and play games as well as provide a means of communicating with friends and family. Many are now using headsets to make all these activities more enjoyable and absorbing", says Saul Matthews, Plantronics EMEA retail manager.

"Yet our customers continually complain about how annoying it is for them to get up from their PC, go round the back and have to change over the soundcard wires so that they can listen either with headsets or loudspeakers. That`s why we`ve launched this simple, but very helpful accessory - now you can remain seated and choose to listen in public or in private at the flick of a switch."

The Plantronics .Audio PC headset loudspeaker switch is available in selected PC and electrical retailers. The switch also features 3.5mm gold-plated plugs for optimal connectivity with most popular soundcards.

Ismail Desai, spokesperson for Plantronics South Africa, says: "With the introduction of our latest products, Plantronics reinforces its position as the company offering the most comprehensive, broadest range of headsets. As the global market leader in headsets, we believe that Plantronics is well positioned to contribute to the growth of digital by supplying products to all major market segments and standards, as well as to all digital standards used in SA."
