Sybase has solidified its e-business focus through its acquisition of business-to-business integration specialist New Era of Networks (Neon). This advances Sybase's strategy to provide complete, integrated, e-business solutions for doing business on the Web.
Neon offers a range of products and services in the application-to-application (A2A) and enterprise application integration (EAI) space.
Thomas Been, a French-based pre-sales consultant for Neon, comments: "Sybase can now capitalise on the most important segment of the e-business marketplace - one that necessitates the integration of existing applications with new e-business applications. Sybase can integrate its e-business platform into heterogeneous environments."
Key Neon products include Process Server, its integration server e-Biz Integrator, and pre-packaged solutions, New Era of Networks Adapters, that are designed to work with specific off-the-shelf applications and standards. Adapters enable customers to integrate ERP, CRM, supply-chain management and e-commerce applications including those from SAP, Siebel, i2 and BroadVision.
"New Era of Networks brings to Sybase its EAI and B2B expertise, making Sybase's e-business solution stronger and more complete," says Sybase SA marketing manager Julie Tomlinson. "It also strengthens its integration capabilities and enables Sybase to approach new markets."
The New Era of Networks product line offers a range of e-business and application integration products and services for the financial services, healthcare, insurance, consumer products, manufacturing, telecommunications, and other industries.
With a focus on e-business, the companies have combined their expertise in enterprise portals, Internet applications and enterprise integration to offer a complete and competitive enterprise e-business software suite. All current New Era of Networks products will be on offer, including e-Biz Integrator, and several Sybase e-business products, including Sybase's flagship enterprise portal, its application server EAServer, and development tools PowerDesigner and PowerJ.
"These solutions are designed to address companies' needs for e-business application integration, and provide for connectivity between a business's core operational systems and Web-interfacing applications," says Been. He adds that the acquisition will enable Sybase to serve an expanded market and deepen its reach by developing new e-business and application integration solutions; servicing customers with strong cross-sell opportunities in e-business, m-business and online banking; broadening into new vertical markets including manufacturing, distribution, retail and utilities and adding strength in Sybase vertical strongholds such as financial services, telecommunications, healthcare and the public sector.
"The enhanced offerings will be of great benefit to our customers in the A2A integration space," says Been. " New Era of Networks provides Sybase with the technology to handle the crucial task of allowing the different components of the platform to communicate. Sybase customers can now easily integrate ERP, CRM, supply chain management and e-commerce applications while leveraging the benefits of enterprise portal technology."
