Sybase SA and Usko Software have partnered on their product and services front to give business professionals customised query facilities into high-level and transactional enterprise data.
Sybase's Web-enabled Adaptive Server IQ data warehouse database is complemented by the BusinessObjects query tool, which together will give users a portal of information which can be accessed in any way the user chooses.
"Armed with a data warehouse address (URL) and a smart front-end tool like Business Objects, users can access the data with or without being on the LAN and perform complex data analysis without knowledge of the database structure or SQL," says Sybase SA marketing manager Julie Tomlinson. "Compare this with five years ago, when an IT department, on behalf of its users, submitted batch jobs to an unwieldy and expensive data warehouse."
Included in the BusinessObjects suite is BroadcastAgent, a report distribution mechanism for broadcasting information transparently to a range of channels, and WebIntelligence, a complete e-business intelligence portal. The solution would be used by companies with a need to distribute information internally on an Intranet, and externally to suppliers and partners. "BusinessObjects will complement Adaptive Server IQ with its powerful ad hoc querying ability", says BusinessObjects practice manager Annaliza Janse van Rensburg. "Users have self-service access to the data warehouse with ad hoc queries - essential for the business user. More importantly, the reports are non-technical and rather deliver a business report to the user."
"The proliferation of information via the Web has led to the growth of massive databases, yet fast access to information has become even more important in the Web economy," remarks Tomlinson. "A data repository such as Adaptive Server IQ reaches its fullest potential when accessed using user-friendly, powerful query tools such as BusinessObjects."
