In a strategic move to grow its share of the enterprise infrastructure market, Sybase has created an infrastructure platform group (IPG) to assist customers and partners in choosing Sybase solutions that best meets their business requirements. The IPG is set to enhance and reinforce Sybase's current market position among leading broadband enterprise infrastructure providers.
"Sybase has developed many specialised niche products independently, and in conjunction with its partners locally and abroad," says Alan Cowley, CEO of Sybase SA. "The IPG effectively changes the way we are taking our products to market by presenting our solutions more holistically. It positions us as a horizontal platform provider that also offers niche solutions."
The IPG aims to grow Sybase's share of the enterprise infrastructure market through its support of partner channels and the company's worldwide salesforce. It includes Sybase's business intelligence, e-business and enterprise solutions divisions, and will provide a combined product focus designed to drive the company's market positioning at enterprise level.
"This is in line with our focus on delivering business-critical solutions by enabling information liquidity," says Cowley. "We ensure this by providing easy access to the right information to the right people anywhere.
"We have had significant successes in many markets across databases, business intelligence, middleware, enterprise portals and wireless solutions. With the IPG we are deliberately harmonising our offerings to provide a compelling solution for the enterprise software market in terms that focus on solutions for business needs rather than technology."
Cowley says the move consolidates Sybase's offerings, making it easier for customers and partners to understand by removing the complexities associated with technology-focused rather than business-driven solutions.
"We foresee that the IPG will create traction among Sybase partners which we believe will translate into greater support for Sybase locally, and will provide us with the opportunity to work with a wider range of partners."
