Sybase SA's iAnywhere division has announced the local availability of Sybase iAnywhere's latest release of its award-winning M-Business Anywhere, which enables the delivery of Web-based content and applications to mobile devices rapidly and cost-effectively for online and disconnected use.
Sybase SA's iAnywhere divisional general manager, Gerard Sofianos says M-Business Anywhere 6.2 new features include support for Microsoft Smartphone devices, VGA screen resolution support, soft key navigation on Windows Mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs, and the ability to install the M-Business Anywhere client and all synched content and data on an SD (Secure Digital) card, rather than in the device memory.
"M-Business Anywhere 6.2 technology is also part of the recently announced Information Anywhere Suite which addresses converging enterprise requirements for mobile e-mail, device management, enterprise-to-edge security and enterprise application enablement," he explains.
"With M-Business Anywhere, developers can quickly and easily deliver a wide range of Web-based applications right to the palm of users' hands," said Shubha Govil, senior product manager, Sybase iAnywhere. "Our customers have been asking for expanded choices for SD card synchronisation and we're pleased to be able to deliver on that commitment in M-Business Anywhere 6.2."
New features of M-Business Anywhere 6.2 include support for:
* Microsoft Smartphone: New support for the Microsoft Smartphone platform.
* VGA screen resolutions: M-Business Anywhere 6.2 takes full advantage of the improved resolution of new Windows Mobile 5 and Pocket PC 2003 devices for enhanced text and image display quality.
* Soft key navigation: M-Business Anywhere 6.2 includes support for soft key navigation on Windows Mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs. This enables developers to leverage soft key navigation to easily activate menus on the home screen and within applications, reducing the number of actions required to accomplish common tasks.
* SD card synchronisation: M-Business Anywhere 6.2 now enables Palm, Microsoft Smartphone and Pocket PC customers to conserve memory by easily synchronising information directly to an SD card rather than to the device. On Microsoft Smartphone and Pocket PC devices, the M-Business Anywhere client can also be saved on the SD card.
