Sybase iAnywhere today announced that in a recent report, Worldwide Mobile Device Management Enterprise 2006-2010 Forecast and 2005 Vendor Shares (IDC #203353, September 2006), leading IT market research advisory firm IDC recognised Sybase and its iAnywhere subsidiary as the leader in mobile device management enterprise software with higher revenues and market share in a top 10 list that makes up more than three-fourths of the market and is dominated by large systems management vendors.
"This year has seen an expansion of the MDM enterprise market across mobile solutions through mergers, acquisitions and new market entrants," said Stephen Drake, program director, Mobile Enterprise at IDC.
"As mobile enablement increases across organisations, the need to roll-out mobile device management at the point of deployment bodes well for suppliers of a broad set of mobile software solutions."
"In 2006, we've seen that mobile enterprise deployments are evolving from single applications into broader solutions that are a strategic part of the core IT backbone," said Terry Stepien, president, iAnywhere. "Sybase iAnywhere continues to be the leader in enabling companies to easily secure, manage and access mobile business applications in the same reliable way as applications that run within the enterprise."
IDC forecasted that the worldwide market for MDM enterprise software will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 28.8% from 2006-2010. As defined by IDC, the Mobile Device Management Enterprise software provides standard features found in all desktop administration solutions, such as maintaining PC hardware and software inventories, performing software distribution, managing anti-virus scan files and enabling remote control for systems diagnostics. In addition, MDM Enterprise solutions also include advanced functions that address the needs of mobile and wireless users, such as mobile security, support for offline and over-the-air wireless synchronization, and back up and recovery capabilities.
Sybase iAnywhere enables success at the front lines of business. The company holds worldwide market leadership positions in mobile and embedded databases, mobile management and security, mobile middleware and synchronisation, and Bluetooth and infrared protocol technologies. Tens of millions of mobile devices, millions of subscribers, and 20 000 customers and partners rely on the company's "Always Available" technologies, including SQL Anywhere, Afaria, OneBridge, and the AvantGo mobile Internet service.
iAnywhere is a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc (NYSE:SY).
