Sybase IQ Multiplex takes information to thousands of Web users

Johannesburg, 27 Jul 2001

Sybase SA has announced the local availability of Adaptive Server IQ Multiplex, v.12.4.3. IQ Multiplex lets companies perform real-time, e-business intelligence analysis of very large databases and provides information to thousands of concurrent users over the Internet.

The new version allows e-businesses to scale to more simultaneous users, as demand for enterprise information grows from employees, partners and customers.

"The development of IQ Multiplex will help customers' systems grow along with the Internet and user demand," says Sybase SA business intelligence product manager Estelle de Beer. "IQ Multiplex compresses large amounts of data, while making it possible for databases to remain stable when accessed by many users."

In addition to the benefits of real-time e-business intelligence that delivers information to large numbers of users over the Web, enterprise system management features including failover, fault tolerance and high-availability make it easier to adjust to hardware failures, and diminish the likelihood that data will be unavailable.

Sybase software partners can also benefit by embedding IQ Multiplex, which lets them offer scalable solutions to their customers.

"IQ Multiplex now plays an even more important role in a company's e-business infrastructure," says De Beer. "Portal optimisation ensures that customers, employees and business partners can access information, while user scalability allows for thousands of users simultaneously to access a company's database via the Internet."

Storage scalability enables customers to create very large databases and compress data so less storage space is needed.

De Beer notes that enhanced query performance means users receive responses up to 1 000 times faster than traditional database queries. Analytic flexibility allows for indexing by any type of information, so users can create multiple types of reports. "Its open architecture makes IQ Multiplex an ideal platform for software vendors to embed into their solutions," she adds.

Along with other integrated intelligence applications, Adaptive Server IQ Multiplex focuses on business intelligence for specific vertical markets such as financial services, insurance, banking, telecommunications and the Internet.
