Johannesburg, 12 Jul 2004

XcelleNet Afaria, the frontline management solution from Sybase subsidiary iAnywhere, has been named "Mobility Product of the Year" in the International Group (IDG) 2004 Awards. The awards recognise the best in the industry, rewarding companies and people for innovative and effective use of and telecommunications technology.

"The recognition from the IDG 2004 Network Awards highlights the importance of frontline management as a business imperative for organisations with mobile users," says Caroline Scofield, mobile product manager at Sybase SA.

"XcelleNet Afaria is used by leading companies worldwide to centrally manage and secure devices, data and applications used on the frontlines by mobile users."

XcelleNet frontline management products, Afaria and RemoteWare, allow companies to centrally manage and secure technology used on the front lines of business by mobile and remote employees. The frontline systems management software helps companies manage devices, data and applications, regardless of the bandwidth available. XcelleNet provides enterprise-ready security solutions to protect mobile data and devices. XcelleNet machine-to-machine (M2M, technology that supports wired or wireless communication between machines) and radio frequency identification (RFID) solutions offer a framework that gives visibility to remote operational data currently trapped within silos of monitoring and control in the field.
