Symantec, the world leader in Internet security, today announced Symantec AntiVirus for Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server, which will provide scalable and reliable virus detection and repair for HTTP, FTP and SMTP traffic served through ISA Server.
Scheduled to be available in December, Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server will help thwart outbreaks by preventing new threats from entering an organisation through ISA Server an extensible firewall and Web cache server that integrates with Windows 2000 to provide policy-based security.
"Symantec recognised the importance of protecting its customers at all tiers of the network," said Nevet Basker, director of business development at Microsoft. "The integration of Symantec's anti-virus technology with ISA Server will provide the security essential to enterprise customers conducting business and communicating via the Internet."
"Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server will use Symantec's award-winning virus technologies to protect an enterprise from e-mail-borne viruses and malicious Web content," said Patrick Evans, regional manager for Africa at Symantec. "Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server is ideal for any size organisation seeking a high performance solution to protect the outermost perimeter of a network from Internet threats."
Scalable and reliable protection against blended threats
By integrating with the ISA Management console, Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server will enable administrators to easily configure alerts and protection from malicious threats in all major file types, including compressed file formats. Designed specifically to protect HTTP, FTP, and SMTP traffic served through the ISA Server, the solution will employ award-winning Symantec technologies that are optimised for speed and impose minimal resource demands on existing network infrastructures.
To ensure continuous protection and reduce administrative burden, these technologies will enable automatic updating of virus definitions and engines, as well as the detection of previously unknown threats.
Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server will provide IT administrators with a high-performance, scalable and reliable solution to safeguard against e-mail borne and Web-based malicious threats before they can reach client computers. With the availability of advanced mail policy settings, Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server will prevent new virus threats from entering an organisation's mail servers and conserve server resources by blocking messages based on subject line, attachment and size.
Symantec AntiVirus for ISA Server is backed by Symantec Security Response, a team of dedicated security engineers and intrusion and virus experts who provide worldwide support and response capabilities protecting computer users from today's most complex security threats.
