On an annual basis, Symantec - an information security and availability company - hosts its partner awards. This year Faritec was the recipient of the Top Symantec Partner in Africa award.
The award recognises Faritec as Symantec`s top business partner that achieved the greatest sales record over the 2004 financial year across Symantec`s security product line. Revenue for Faritec`s security division increased by 300% over its 2004 figures with targets exceeded by over 70%.
With this latest award, Faritec has reinforced its position as one of Symantec`s most dedicated partners. In 2003, Faritec received the Symantec Business Development award and have now followed this up with the highest accolade possible in Africa.
In 2004, Faritec also launched its security operation centre (SOC). The only one of its kind in Africa, and ranked among the most advanced security facilities in the world, the SOC is the nerve centre of Faritec`s managed security service offering. The centre`s 35 security specialists pro-actively protect South African companies` business assets from hackers, viruses, worms, denial of service attacks and other threats.
Faritec`s security specialists are responsible for protecting, to date, 40 South African companies ranging from large JSE-listed organisations to mid-size enterprises, including some of the biggest companies in the telecommunication and finance sectors.
"This award is a testimony to the drive and market savvy of Faritec`s highly skilled, competent and dedicated security employees who deliver and manage security solutions and services to our customers on a daily basis," commented Gordon Love, head of security at Faritec.
In September 2004, Faritec pushed forward with its strategy to be the leader in IT security services in SA with the acquisition of the commercial security division of Nanoteq, a wholly owned subsidiary of Business Connexion. This bolstered its software revenues and client base considerably.
Faritec provides Symantec products that offer the breadth and depth of industry-leading solutions and services that companies need to protect their customers` infrastructures and manage their security systems.
Says Patrick Evans, regional manager for Africa at Symantec: "Our solutions and products are sold through qualified professional business partners who handle all deliverables, from implementation and configuration to service support. Faritec has demonstrated its ability to do this exceptionally well, thus deservedly securing this accolade."
