Symantec protects virtual infrastructures

This is according to the security vendor, Symantec, which has unveiled Endpoint Protection and Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, that it says provides businesses of all sizes with advanced protection while improving system performance.

The security vendor says it is working closely with VMware on taking full advantage of virtualisation awareness and introspection capabilities based on VMware vShield technology and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 is the big next step along the optimisation path for virtual environments.

The solution is designed to detect and block sophisticated new threats earlier and more accurately than any other security product. This solution is powered by Insight, a cloud-based reputation technology.

Senior vice-president of Enterprise Security Group at Symantec, Francis deSouza, says cyber attacks are increasing in size, scope and sophistication and companies of all sizes are at .

Presently, the solution is in an invitation-only beta and is expected to be available for public beta in April 2011.
