For the second year in a row, Symantec South Africa has been named as Computer Reseller News Southern Africa's Channel Champion in the Utilities and Anti-virus category. The utilities vendor also came out tops in the Product Vision section.
The awards form part of CRNSA's annual Outlook Awards and was presented in Johannesburg yesterday.
The awards are voted for by resellers countrywide and reflect their choices of top vendor partners and products in various categories.
Resellers placed a vote of confidence in the company's software, giving it an emphatic 6.11 out of 7 for product quality and 5.96 for value-for-money.
"The category of Utilities and Anti-virus Software has seen a tremendous amount of change and consolidation over the past few years," says James Watson, CRNSA editor.
"In 1996 and 1997 there was a vast array of competitors battling it out for the top spot but in 1999 there is but one contender - Symantec."
"We are proud to receive this award for the second time and have committed ourselves to further serving the channel with various new initiatives, such as our channel partner programme and the introduction of a certified security engineer course," says Jako Voges, marketing manager for Symantec's Middle East and Africa regions.
