Symantec, the leader in Internet security, today announced that its anti-virus solution has received its 12th VB 100% Award from Virus Bulletin. The VB 100% Award is given to products that detect 100 percent of all "In the Wild" viruses, as tracked by the WildList Organization, during extensive Virus Bulletin testing. Symantec's Norton AntiVirus has received the prominent award the last six consecutive times it has been offered.
"Receiving our 12th VB 100% Award since November 1999 cements Symantec's position as an industry leader in providing the most powerful and reliable anti-virus solutions available today," said Ron Moritz, senior vice president and chief technical officer, Symantec Corporation. "Symantec will continue its commitment to protect its customers from the ever-changing virus threats."
Symantec's anti-virus solutions provide customers with automatic protection against viruses and other malicious code at all entry points, including e-mail attachments and Internet downloads. The solutions provide hands-free detection, analysis and repair of viruses, malicious ActiveX controls, Java applets and other dangerous fast-moving threats. Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.5 is part of Symantec Enterprise Security, which enables customers to build the best security solution for their organization by choosing from Symantec's best-of-breed, multi-platform Internet security products; manageability and administration tools; and world-class professional services and support.
Virus Bulletin's comparatives typically focus on virus detection rates, scanning speeds and performance overhead of on-access or resident scanning components. The viruses on the WildList Organization's lists are acknowledged as causing real-world virus incidents and of doing so in more than just one or two isolated locations. As evidenced by its long string of VB 100% awards, Symantec's anti-virus solutions have consistently earned high marks. Recently, Norton AntiVirus was once again named to PC Data's Top 10 Business Software list. This is an honor Norton AntiVirus has received consistently since January 1998.
