Symetrix Business Continuity Services (SBCS) recently partnered with SunBelt Software Systems to include its Double-Take software in the SBCS solutions portfolio. The Double-Take software is a "two-in-one" type of product providing both high availability and disaster recovery.
Double-Take offers the enterprise a flexible and affordable solution for real-time data protection, reducing downtime for Windows NT and 2000 networks. It is a disaster recovery tool working from one site to another as it mirrors critical data and provides real-time replication on multi configuration platforms.
According to Hafida Rahmi, sales engineer at Sunbelt System Software in France, the average cost of downtime per Windows NT server in a company is an estimated $1 000 to $10 000 per hour. Companies are also victims of at least one to six hours of unexpected downtime per server every two to three months.
Rahmi comments: "The cost of Double-Take licences with installation is far less than the fixed cost of downtime for just one server for a couple of hours. Double-Take opens a new market for high availability and disaster recovery across the board for all the NT servers in a company."
She continues: "Sunbelt Software Systems was looking for a South African partner with project experience at an international level, and who had a strong focus on providing business continuity solutions. SBCS matched with our niche activity, which is to provide disaster recovery systems for enterprises with mission critical applications. It also has experience with Double-Take as it has been successfully implementing the software at South African companies for years now."
