After more than a decade in its offices in Rondebosch, Cape Town's leading provider of business intelligence solutions is moving offices to an expanded location in the heart of the Mother City's CBD. The move by Synergy Business Intelligence (Synergy BI) reflects not only confidence in the revitalised city centre, but also anticipation of continued brisk trade despite the economic downturn.
According to Synergy BI managing director Christo Bredenkamp, steady growth for the company has put growing pressure on its former facilities. “We had opened a satellite office in the Cape Town city centre around five years ago to cater for the growth in headcount and also to collocate with blue-chip clients,” he says. “However, demand for BI solutions was such over these five years that this office was no longer capable of supporting a growing headcount,” he says.
Business intelligence solutions equip companies to gain more value from their data by assimilating it from disparate sources, 'cleansing' it and enabling analysis and reporting.
Demand for these solutions, which are based on specialised software, is considerable from a variety of businesses, including those in the financial services, telecommunications, healthcare and retail sectors.
And, while many companies are reeling under the pressure of a looming global recession and tough conditions in the domestic economy, Bredenkamp says Synergy BI closed a record year in August and continues to show strong growth in the first quarter of its new financial year. “We do expect to see reduced growth, but the reality is that in the prevailing market conditions, companies need accurate and actionable information - which is the very thing which BI delivers,” he says.
By taking a 425 square metre office in the Mandela Rhodes development near St Georges Mall, Bredenkamp says the company has sufficient space to cater for its present staff complement while providing headroom for further growth. “The move also puts our company closer to our clients while supporting the improved development of a consistent culture within the business,” he says.
With a three-year lease, Bredenkamp adds that Synergy BI is confident in the Cape Town CBD revitalisation programme and has committed to playing a part in the continued transformation of the area.
“It's an exciting move for us. We believe in the veracity of the solutions we bring to market and the value that BI adds to our customers. We look forward to serving them with greater effect through closer proximity,” he concludes.
