Synergy Computing brings Visualizer to the local market

By Synergy
Johannesburg, 12 Apr 2001

Synergy Computing, in conjunction with Cognos SA, has launched Visualizer, the fastest selling tool launched so far by Cognos in the US, and will be hosting breakfast seminars in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town to illustrate the product's capabilities.

Visualizer, the newest addition to Cognos' business intelligence () solution stable, brings the power of visualisation to the business user's desktop, giving managers and other decision-makers the ability to explore high-impact, multi-metric visual presentations of their corporate in a format that can be easily understood.

"Through the use of visuals such as maps and 3D charts, the mind's ability to quickly track trends and anomalies is enhanced," says Peter Gerson, country manager at Cognos locally. "Recognising this, Visualizer allows users to animate their charts and maps, drill down to more detail within the chart itself, or drill through to other reports to get the level of information they require."

In addition, Visualiser fully supports transaction and OLAP reporting and analysis by offering drill-through to Cognos' Impromptu and Powerplay products, both on the client and web versions. Another feature enjoyed by Visualizer is its ability to plot multiple performance measures in one chart, which makes for easy scorecarding.

Rob Engels, chairman of Synergy Computing and former senior vice-president of Cognos, says the introduction of Visualizer presents an exciting opportunity for users to gain simultaneous views of key performance measures in order to accelerate their understanding of complex data.

"We hope that by attending our upcoming breakfast seminar delegates will see enough of Visualizer's capabilities to warrant further investigation and discussion," said Engels, who will address delegates at the seminar. Gerson, another speaker at the event, will look at the latest international trends in business intelligence, with specific reference to e-business.
