Syrex, a specialist in the installation and support of various network infrastructures, today announced that it has successfully implemented its fully-managed Microsoft Office 365 offering to its clients, as the first of several cloud services it will be providing over the coming months.
"The key component of this offering is our management of Microsoft Exchange Online," commented Ralph Berndt of Syrex. "This provides business-class e-mail, calendar and contacts to your phone, tablet, PC and Web browser, while providing a high standard of physical and digital security for your information and the controls and reliability needed for your business.
"However, it is the value-added services that we also provide that differentiates us from the standard Microsoft cloud offering and our competitors," added Berndt. "For example, we can provide an e-mail filtering option to deal with the usual spam, porn, potential phishing attacks, etc, as well as a customised filter that would immediately direct specific e-mails, such as CVs, to human resources. In addition, our mail archiving solution allows businesses the security of off-site archiving of historical mail for the purposes of discovery for extended periods; and is fully consistent with the corporate governance and compliance legislation that exists within South Africa.
"Not surprisingly, we can fully manage the transition to this cloud service in terms of the hardware, any upgrades to software that are necessary, as we are a Microsoft licensing partner, and subsequent desktop support, etc," continued Berndt. "This alleviates the IT management from these activities and allows them to focus on operations concerns. Typically, we often cut-over an SME within 24 hours and provide a fully synchronised situation within two to three days.
"For small business users, typically ones involving up to 50 users, we can often provide a proposal within a half-day at no cost to the user," concluded Berndt. "In this scenario, the key decision factor for undertaking such a move is that the expenditure is funded from the opex budget and not from the capex budget, which is often a problematical situation."
