SYSTIMAX Solutions, a worldwide leader in structured cabling systems, today announced that it has provided its SYSTIMAX InstaPATCH System for the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Storage Networking World (SNW) Spring 2004 conference in Phoenix, Ariz. The InstaPATCH System supports rapid fiber-optic cabling backbone setup and configuration for the conference Interoperability and Solutions Demo.
The InstaPATCH System serves as the fiber backbone for the complex storage systems being tested by conference attendees in the Interoperability and Solutions Demo. Instead of requiring multiple fiber setups, the SNW demo now features a factory-terminated and pretested ribbon fiber solution that connects 12 fibers simultaneously in a simple MT connector.
In addition, the factory-polished connectors enhance network performance and reduce installation time for the SNIA engineers constructing the Demo's Storage Area Network (SAN).
"The SYSTIMAX InstaPATCH System has made it simple for us to set up the Interoperability and Solutions Demo," said Ed von Adelung, SNIA board member and chairman of the Interoperability and Solutions Demo at SNW. "The efficiency and performance capabilities of the InstaPATCH System enabled our engineers to spend their time setting up SAN systems and solutions instead of worrying about navigating a complex maze of fiber to set up the fiber backbone."
The InstaPATCH System is engineered with factory-terminated and tested fiber components that can be connected quickly and easily in the field, eliminating the time-consuming tasks of cable preparation, connector termination, apparatus assembly, installation and testing. With the InstaPATCH System, 96 fibers can be ready for service in the time it takes to install a single connector in the traditional installation process. This increased ease-of-use is important for installations that are time sensitive, such as the SNIA's Interoperability and Solutions Demo, which is essentially a transplanted version of the SNIA's interoperability lab in Colorado.
The Storage Networking World Spring 2004 conference took place April 5-8 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix. The conference offers IT managers and professionals a SNIA-endorsed education, a hands-on view of the SNIA-sanctioned Interoperability and Solutions Demo, and access to legions of peers, experts and solutions.
