T-Systems, AmVia partner to cut costs with Faxster

Minimum savings of 30% on peer-to-peer fax transmissions
Johannesburg, 07 Feb 2005

T-Systems SA, subsidiary of global telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, in partnership with new company Faxster SA, is set to significantly reduce the costs associated with fax transmissions with a new solution called Faxster.

"T-Systems, through its close relationship with RightFax distributor AmVia, recognised the potential of this product and is delighted to act as sole agent for this solution in the SADC region. By leveraging our existing telecommunications infrastructure and points of presence we are able to deliver a quantifiable reduction in the costs of fax delivery to participating customers across the region," says Heinie Witte, Business Manager: Telecommunication Services at T-Systems South Africa.

Faxster is guaranteed to deliver at least 15% savings on the costs of national and international fax distribution, while a 30% cost reduction is assured on peer-to-peer fax transmissions. Routing fax transmissions over the T-Systems network enables Faxster to deliver these headline cost-savings along with a number of value-added capabilities.

Faxster SA`s cost-cutting solution, developed in association with AmVia, runs on the RightFax platform and acts as a pure router for fax traffic with no store and retrieve fax delivery models. All communications take place with full data security ensured by T-Systems` Multi Protocol Label Switching VPN backbone that is being utilised for this task.

Lance Levitas, business development manager of Faxster SA, explains: "With Faxster, RightFax users maintain full control over their fax environment, with full management and reporting functionality included as part of the service. Critically, there is no change whatsoever to the user experience. Faxster is exceptionally easy and effortless to implement, with no start-up charges or long-term contracts required for businesses to begin reaping the benefits of the solution."

"T-Systems and Faxster SA have addressed customer concerns of privacy risks, lost customer control and the lack of management information in this new solution, which provides full faxing transparency, customer control over fax prioritisation and comprehensive security. The secured connection from a customer`s faxing environment is established through the exchange of secure tokens and encryption techniques accepted by financial institutions," concludes Witte.
