T-Systems delivers new digital business model

Intervate makes JRA's service request resolution as easy as taking a photo
* T-Systems enables JRA to catch the new wave of digitisation
* Driver community to help improve and speed up road services
* Simple, fast and easy communication with road users via Find & Fix app.

Johannesburg, 14 May 2014

T-Systems' subsidiary Intervate partnered with the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to build the 'Find & Fix' app. The app has been designed to help improve and speed up the processing of road users' service requests.

The JRA is responsible for maintenance of the road infrastructure in the Greater City of Johannesburg Metropolitan area including construction, operation, control and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, traffic signal systems, footways, signs and road markings.

"T-Systems assisted JRA in simplifying its communication with road users. The app enables road users to share road issues effortlessly and the JRA to process and resolve service requests efficiently," said Craig Heckrath, Intervate's business unit manager for the company's application development division within T-Systems.

"The app is easily accessible to anyone with a supported smartphone and using the in-built camera, GPS receiver and data connection, submitting service requests is just a few touches away. Users can log issues with the JRA - whether it's a pothole, broken traffic light or missing manhole cover - as they see them by simply submitting a service request from the app which captures their exact location using the phones GPS receiver and with optional photographs and descriptions to assist the JRA. The correct contractors can then be sent out with the correct tools to go and fix the issue. They know exactly where to find it thanks to the geotag location that accompanies the request and a photo, if one was submitted."

The Find & Fix App allows users to track the status of their reported service requests and view other road user's service requests. Moreover, reports are automatically linked and grouped at the JRA to avoid duplication of service requests and to ensure that issues that are reported by multiple users are prioritised. What's more, the JRA can view a dashboard summary of the reports logged and track their progress, enabling greater accountability and timeous resolution.

The JRA 'Find & Fix' app is available for download for the Windows 8 Phone from Windows 8 Phone store and the Android version from the Google Play store. The iOS version will be available from the iTunes store, from 24 May 2014. Further information on that app and links to download the apps are available at http://bit.ly/1mU63ED or follow the hashtag on twitter #FindnFix.

The Find & Fix app was officially launched at Microsoft's premises in Bryanston on 14 May at 9.30am and is based on Intervate's Fix My City (FMC) Framework. The FMC framework is a multi-tenant capable solution which allows geo-fencing of regions to allow service requests to be grouped and categorised. The framework is flexible and can be easily adapted for example to retail store settings, for health and safety issues or in an industrial plant. This experience and knowledge allied with Intervate's innovation, passion and excellence and a desire to deliver impactful solutions meant that this was an ideal partnership to help solve this very real problem.
