The future could be filled with the incessant clattering of impact printers hammering away at breakneck speed. Fortunately for now, saving the world from millions of jabbering print heads will not be a problem. Tally has merged the speed and reliability of impact technology with the quality, convenience and relative silence of inkjet technology in its extended range of production ink printers.
"Far from the common belief that dot matrix printers can never hope to match the quality an inkjet can deliver; or that an inkjet can never hope to deliver the speed or reliability of line printers, Tally does just that with its production ink printers," says David Terry, GM, TallyCom, local Tally representatives.
Recognising the restriction placed on budgets and the increasing demand businesses place on their printing needs, Tally has introduced the lower-cost T3010 and T3110 production ink printers, designed for application-specific printing in back-office environments, including manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.
"Suitable for invoices, cheques, bar codes and labels, the T3010 is a narrow carriage printer, whereas the T3110 has a wide carriage suited to printing listings, reports and despatch notes," says Terry. "The long life print heads now have improved ink mechanisms that ensure the print quality endures, with each model able to outrun dot matrix technology by thousands of pages."
The T3X10 machines have recently been bolstered by the arrival of the new T3116 Sprintjet production inkjet printer range. The Sprintjet range lowers the cost of ownership, enabling users to benefit from better print quality with increased reliability and throughput. Print registration is sharper and with Tally`s unique long-life `Stay Black` consumables, print quality does not deteriorate over time and is suited to longer production runs.
Designed to replace low-end line printers, the T3116 series represents a breakthrough in production non-impact printing, pushing out 2 200 characters per second with a print head life of 2 billion characters - over 1 600 000 pages. The T3116 offers high quality output on a wide variety of stationery at a similar cost as dot matrix technology. Its recommended workload of 60 000 pages per month (about 3 000 pages per day) makes the T3116 no slouch. It boasts a high-capacity ink cartridge that can print 40 million characters with ease - about 32 000 pages, making this the most complete and versatile production non-impact printer on the market.
"However, business will see real return on investment in its cost of ownership," Terry adds. "At about 2c per page (cpp) in economy mode, this is one machine that will change your view on the future of printing and provide you with years of uninterrupted use."
From a security point of view, Tally`s production inkjets stand even further apart from the crowd. The T3116, T3010 and the T3110 have been awarded Grade 1 certification under the Pira/APACS (Association for Payment Clearing Services) Qualification Service in the UK.
"To date, all Tally production inkjet printers have received this accreditation as an acknowledgement of their ability to provide an effective measure in the prevention of cheque defacement," Terry notes. "The ink is absorbed into the cheque, making it impossible to erase or to alter numbers or characters.
"They are also faster, sturdier and more secure than traditional matrix printers," concludes Terry. "Thanks to Tally, the future of printing is changed forever - and it`s a whole lot quieter as well."
