Tablet app tracks assets
Asset management company, Vizualiiz has released an Android tablet-based application called Scout that can capture, tag and audit data centre assets using radio frequency identification (RFID), Business Wire reports.
Offered as an option with LightsOn, the company's fully automated asset management solution, Scout includes four pre-built business process workflows to handle common asset management activities such as inventory audits and asset tagging, receiving and transfers, SunHerald.com states.
Vizualiiz president Bob Cartwright says: “With Scout, a person simply carries a tablet throughout the data centre and all asset information is wirelessly collected from RFID or bar codes and completely integrates with the central LightsOn solution.”
Cartwright adds: “This changes a days-long critical activity that often doesn't get prioritised, into a fast, efficient and streamlined process.”
LightsOn also offers 3D visualisation of assets for RFID tracking, Datacenter Dynamics says.
Scout is certified to run on Asus and Samsung tablets and works with any tagging and scanning products.
