Tactile Technologies has extended its reach across the subcontinent by bringing on board two new distribution channels, in Namibia and KwaZulu-Natal respectively, who will facilitate greater market penetration for the company`s leading Elo TouchSystems touch technology.
Executive Computer Systems (ECS), based in Windhoek, and Sharaan Technologies in Durban will assist Tactile Technologies to fill in the geographical gaps present in the company`s distribution network across the region. Managing director Mauro Mercuri said he hoped to have the entire region covered by additional distribution partners by March 2005.
It is this drive to become the leading distributor of touch technology to southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands that has fuelled the company`s 60% revenue growth enjoyed during 2004.
Meanwhile, Tactile Technologies is taking Elo TouchSystems into the operating theatre. Mercuri announced this month that his company had teamed up with Marcus Medical (www.marcusmed.co.za), key suppliers of medical equipment into Africa.
"We have an agreement with Marcus Medical to distribute medical grade Elo LCD monitors to their government and private hospital clients throughout the country," Mercuri explained. This requires touch-screen monitors which carry worldwide medical certifications, shed water completely and are safe from liquid drops and spills.
