"Freelancers are people who can't get real jobs." "Working freelance is going to become more and more popular in future." "The worst thing about freelancing is chasing payment from clients." "Freelancers work in their pyjamas."
True? Not true? There are a lot of perceptions about freelancers and freelancing, but which reflect reality? Well, we're about to find out.
For the first time in South Africa, clients and freelancers the communications and advertising industry are being invited to voice their opinions in a Freelance Survey. The survey will reveal what clients really think about freelancers - and what freelancers really think about freelancing.
Jo Duxbury, founder of Freelancentral.co.za and initiator of the Freelance Survey, hopes that "once we know what clients and freelancers think and need, we can help both to work more efficiently, productively and happily together."
As an added sweetener, all respondents who complete the survey stand in line to win one of ten boxes of decadent handmade chocolates from online retailer DCHOC.
If you use freelancers, or are working freelance, we'd love to hear what you've got to say. Click here to access the Freelance Survey. It has less than 15 questions, will take about 5-10 minutes to complete and closes on 12 June.
