Tarsus announces new CLJ5500 colour printer from HP

Tarsus Technologies, the value-add distribution arm of MB Technologies, has announced that the new Colour LaserJet 5500 from HP - which replaces the HP CLJ 8550 - will be available to the local market from December.

Targeted at small and medium businesses, the HP Colour LaserJet 5500 supports a large variety of documents and lets users spend more time creating the perfect document and less time printing it.

"It is also ideal for departments that require a shared colour solution. The HP Colour LaserJet 5500 produces professional-looking documents efficiently and more affordably, providing a competitive advantage to both external and internal customers," says Traci Maynard, HP peripherals product manager at Tarsus Technologies.

"High capacity and long-life maintenance items coupled with low intervention rates result lower cost of ownership or operation," Maynard continues. Further contributing to the low cost of ownership are reduce power consumption due to inductive heat fuser technology; increased uptime through smart calibration; and an embedded Web server, which allows users to remotely view, monitor, change and manage, receive e-mail alerts and further maximise uptime.

Estimated retail pricing for the range, including VAT, is:

This range will replace the Colour LaserJet range, including the 8550, 8550N, 8550DN and 8550GN at a price reduction of just over 30%. The Colour LaserJet 8550 MFP will remain in the line-up until June 2003.
