Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of MB Technologies, has announced the immediate availability of the new Compaq DeskPro EP Series personal computer with 400MHz Pentium II chip. "The DeskPro EP 400MHz desktop delivers a highly competitive product with the latest technology at the best price. It achieves an excellent long-term value by combining mainstream to next-generation, industry-standard technologies in a highly flexible design," says Jamie Scott, general manager of the Compaq division and a director of Tarsus Technologies.
The Deskpro EP chassis can be configured as either a desktop or minitower to fit easily into different work environments throughout the lifecycle of the product, Scott explains. "This "Towerable" chassis is a unique Compaq design that allows the drive bays to be rotated so they will remain horizontal when configured as either a desktop or minitower," he says. According to Scott, standardizing on this solution will reduce total cost of ownership by facilitating upgrades and allowing customers to move the unit between users with either a desktop or minitower requirement.
The new DeskPro EP 400Mhz desktop now also supports Remote Wakeup functionality for optional third party Wake-on LAN enabled network cards. This enables the administrator to distribute software or manage PC inventories at anytime.
"The DeskPro EP 400MHz delivers the latest Intel processor, new chipset technology, fast AGP graphics and ample space for your applications and storage needs with a 6.4GB Ultra ATA Hard drive," Scott concludes.
Other features:
New "Towerable" ATX chassis - easily configured as either a desktop or minitower
New ATI RAGE AGP graphics card solution - offering excellent 2D graphics acceleration, 3D acceleration and multimedia performance
Choice of Windows 95 or NT Workstation Operating System
The DeskPro EP 400MHz carries a recommended retail price of R8 949.
