Tarsus expands range of Samsung printers available in local market

Johannesburg, 26 Sep 2006

Tarsus Technologies has announced the local availability of an expanded range of Samsung laser and inkjet printer offerings, a move the distributor believes will increase market share for the Samsung brand and see it growing in popularity locally.

"Samsung is a brand well known for producing high-quality and cost-effective solutions to most technological needs in the market," says Darryl Squara, business manager at Tarsus, "when it came to printers, although the cost-efficiency and high-quality tenets held true, the spread of products represented locally didn`t cover every aspect of the market.

"With the announcement of Samsung broadening its range, the company has single-handedly rectified that issue and is presenting buyers with solutions for each and every printing need," Squara explains.

Squara says the extended range ensures that all sectors of the printing market are covered. "Samsung`s new range includes everything from cost-effective mono laser printers through to colour and MFP-laser models, as well as inkjet-based photo printers and MFPs with built-in fax capabilities.

"Samsung now has one of the most comprehensive and competitively priced range of printer solutions available in the market," he adds.

Taking a closer look at some of the new products in the Samsung line-up, on the mono laser front, six new units have made their way into the market.

"The mono laser range boasts a performance level of between 20 and 28 pages-per-minute and a quality level as high as 1 200 x 1 200dpi resolution on the high-end models.

"Some of these new models include duplex functionality as a standard feature and can be connected to a network with ease. The best part, however, is the unmatched acquisition outlay and total cost of ownership these units represent. The Samsung mono range is truly the best buy on the market today."

Next in line in the colour laser range, Squara says three new models give users a choice of between four and 20 pages-per-minute performance in colour; and 16 to 21 pages-per-minute in mono.

"The printed results from these units are also outstanding, as all three units boast 1 200 x 1 200dpi quality levels. This range offers one of the most cost-effective solutions to small business colour printing, and we`re predicting that the range will fly over the next few months," he says.

The real good news, however, is the introduction of a colour and mono laser range of MFPs, which match their printer counterparts in terms of performance and quality, but include four-in-one functionality.

"The real differentiator in the MFP stable is the inclusion of a fax utility," says Squara. "Faxing capabilities are still relatively rare in the existing range of basic MFPs available on the market from other vendors."

Rounding out the new Samsung range, Squara says the company has introduced a range of photo printers, colour inkjets, MFPs and inkjet faxes.

"True to Samsung`s style of making life easier for the user, the two new photo printers in the range make use of Bluetooth for connectivity and colour LCD screens for touch-up, significantly simplifying the camera-to-printer transfer process and pre-print editing process," he says.

"On the inkjet MFP front, the same four-in-one functionality available with the laser MFP range has been replicated across to the inkjet MFPs," he continues. "As such, the inkjet MFP features fax, print, scan and copy capabilities, bringing true low-cost convergence to the small business and home office space."

Squara says Tarsus is predicting strong growth in Samsung`s range of printer solutions with its expanded reach into markets that it hasn`t addressed locally before.

"Even though the original Samsung range was limited in its scope, the brand fared extremely well in the local market. Now with this broader range of solutions Samsung could very well become a strong contender in the market share stakes during the course of this year," he concludes.
