Tarsus introduces all-in-one HP LaserJet 3150 for any office

Johannesburg, 02 Aug 2001

With the HPLaserJet 3150, available from Tarsus Technologies, a member of JSE-listed MB Technologies, customers can make laser prints, scan, send professional faxes, and copy on plain paper, all from the same machine.

"The HP LaserJet 3150 is the perfect solution for any office looking for a shareable solution combined with outstanding professional performance," says Traci Maynard, HP peripherals manager at Tarsus Technologies. "Additionally, the LJ 3150 saves space, time and money."

She explains that the HP LaserJet 3150 offers professional quality and flexibility - printing on a wide range of media from business cards, photos, and transparencies to labels. "Customers can print documents at up to six pages per minute at 600 x 600dpi, including n-up watermark printing from the driver."

With a monthly print duty cycle of up to 6 000 pages and long-lasting 2 500-page toner cartridge, printing with the HP LaserJet 3150 is highly economical.

The HP LaserJet 3150 transmits at a modem speed of 14.4kbps. It offers 250 speed or e-dials, 25 of which are group distribution lists, and 10 of which have quick dial buttons. "Customers can use advanced functions such as digital fax cover pages, and combine them with hard copies, saving time by not writing and printing separate cover pages for each fax message," says Maynard.

Copying features include photo mode, multiple copies (up to 99), and automatic collation, copy reduction, and enlargement (25% to 200%), contrast and resolution adjustments.

The 600dpi enhanced 8-bit monochrome scanner offers 256 levels of grey and is TWAIN 1.7 compliant. The unit can handle various paper sizes and can scan card stock as well as magazine pages.

The JetSuite Pro desktop software solution is set up in a familiar Windows environment using a single, simple installation programme for all functions.

"Thanks to separate paper paths for printing and scanning, the HP LaserJet 3150 allows multi-tasking, while the scan ahead feature quickly clears the scan paper path for other jobs," Maynard adds.

She concludes: "The HP LaserJet 3150 combines the professional quality and reliability of an HP printer, fax, copier, and scanner in one compact durable, easy-to-use networkable solution - perfect for any office."

Tarsus Technologies

Tarsus Technologies is the distribution arm of MB Technologies Limited, a company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and one of SA`s leading IT groups.

The founding company of the group, Tarsus Technologies, was established in 1985 by Leo Baxter, and was involved in the development and sale of software before diversifying into hardware distribution.

In 1989 Baxter sold a majority share to M+PD Electronics, which was subsequently sold to Siltek. In the early 1990s, Tarsus expanded its hardware sales, and was appointed distributor for OKI, Samsung and Compaq. In 1992, Baxter bought back Tarsus, selling a majority share to Persetel, and in 1994 he took advantage of an opportunity for a management buyout and repurchased the company with Mike McGrath acquiring an equal share.

The company was now growing strongly, and MB Technologies was formed as a holding company to cater for the group expanding and diversifying its operations into new areas.

Today, Tarsus Technologies is one of SA`s leading hardware distributors and widely recognised by the channel for its service ethos, product knowledge, excellent support and channel focus.

With an executive board comprising Mike McGrath (the founder of M+PD and past MD of Siltek), Leo Baxter, Guy Whitcroft, Pierre Spies, and Jamie Scott, Tarsus` management team is arguably the most experienced IT distribution team of any company in the country.
