Tarsus Technologies has launched T-POS Technologies, a new separately focused division that will provide a portfolio of new and exciting retail-centric solutions.
Says Mark Thompson, general manager of T-POS Technologies: "T-POS (an abbreviation for Tarsus Point of Service) brings a new level of convenience, ease-of-use and cost-effective procurement for hospitality and retail-focused customers seeking hardware components for their point of sale environment.
"The product range consists of our T-POS branded all-in-one PCs which are OEMed from leading providers of hardware, bar code scanners, cash drawers and monitors, as well as specialised printers from Star Micronics and off-the-shelf POS units from HP. It`s truly a choice portfolio of brands," Thompson explains.
The T-POS brand, Thompson says, offers competitively priced all-in-one POS solutions that will provide customers and resellers with a veritable `one stop shop` for their POS requirements.
Looking at printers, Star Micronics is one of the leading POS printer brands in the world.
"Star Micronics was initially attracted to Tarsus because of the way it approaches its reseller relationships and the strength of the Tarsus name in the local market.
"Value-added services such as in-house support, training facilities and excellent product management added to this initial interest and a distribution agreement was concluded in March," Thompson adds.
"At the same time we were finalising our T-POS Technologies portfolio - the timing could not have been better. The market`s response thus far has been very positive," he reports.
"At the competitive price points we`re offering these solutions at, customers are not only getting awesome value for money, but also the peace of mind that comes with purchasing a reputable brand," he opines.
"T-POS has even upped the standard warranty on Star`s printer range, offering resellers a two-year warranty as opposed to the industry norm of one year." Thompson adds.
At present, Thompson says Tarsus is not getting involved in the POS software arena. "We have a list of approved software solutions for our product range and are actively working towards gaining the acceptance and support from leading POS software vendors in South Africa."
Thompson says Tarsus is encouraging resellers to consider this vertical as an area of focus. "We believe that at the rate at which the retail segment is growing, there is a strong incentive for resellers to become specialised in this space.
"We feel so positive about this new market that we will be providing a POS-centric training curriculum through our highly-successful Channel Business College. After attending these training sessions, resellers will be well-equipped to assemble solutions for customers in the retail and hospitality market," he says.
"A last overriding benefit of doing business with Tarsus in the POS space is that under the banner of Tarsus Technologies, resellers have the ability to upsell solutions such as servers, workstations and back-office printers to retail customers for their administration departments.
"We believe we have every inch of the POS-based hardware market covered," he concludes.
