Microsoft has appointed Tarsus as a Microsoft Volume Licensing partner, with effect from the beginning of next year.

According to Traci Maynard, GM for Microsoft at Tarsus, the partnership means resellers will be able to source “an entire end-to-end solution from Tarsus”. Maynard adds that resellers will be able to source licences at all three tiers of the volume-licensing portfolio, namely: open licensing, open value licensing and open value subscription licensing.

Maynard says open licensing is the entry-level tier and allows customers to “pay-as-they-grow” over a two-year period. “Next in line,” she says, “open value licensing allows customers to standardise on a single platform and benefit from Assurance.” Software Assurance gives users access to the latest version of software available. According to Maynard, this comes at “a predictable two-yearly fee”.

Finally, Maynard says open value subscription licensing gives users the same benefits as open value licensing, but with reduced upfront costs as well as the ability to increase or decrease the licence count on an annual basis. Maynard says this accommodates changes in desktop PC count.
