Tarsus PC, the branded machine from Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of JSE-listed MB Technologies, has found favour with Business Systems & Networks (BSN), a division of the Business Machines Group which has been trading in Swaziland and Mozambique for 20 years.
According to Robert Oostergetel, sales director of BSN, the company is moving volumes of the Tarsus PC. "We have only recently started marketing and selling the Tarsus PC, and they are selling very well. The machines are well built, with good components, and look very good," he says.
According to him, Standard Bank Mozambique has recently purchased 35 Tarsus PCs; a deal that BSN won on tender.
"The Tarsus PC was chosen as an alternative to Compaq, which the bank uses and will continue to use. Compaq and Tarsus PCs, both supplied by Tarsus Technologies, work as a good combination, bridging the gap between the branded PCs and less expensive machines. Added to the price advantage of the Tarsus PC is the 3 year warranty and good service from Tarsus Technologies," he says.
Dickey Naicker, account manager for Tarsus PC at Tarsus Technologies Durban, declares that the machines have to endure quite a process to get to Swaziland and from there to Mozambique. "It is quite unbelievable what the Tarsus PC has to endure on its travels into the hinterland. However, in three months of supplying substantial quantities of the PCs to BSN, not one has come back faulty," he concludes.
