Tarsus received two top accolades at IBM business partner awards

Tarsus Technologies achieved top accolades at the `Beyond Boundaries` business partner gala dinner held earlier this year at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Tarsus walked away with the awards in two areas of business, namely IBM PCD TopSeller Sales and IBM PCD Sales.

"The IBM Business Partner gala dinner and awards ceremony is held annually to honour all IBM Business Partners who have excelled in their area of expertise and have ventured beyond boundaries to make new breakthroughs," explains Rashid Wally, PCD Executive at IBM South Africa. "Both awards that Tarsus received were given to the distributor that achieved the best revenue and growth during 2004 as an authorised IBM business partner in each respective category."

Ron Keschner, General Manager: IBM at Tarsus Technologies, believes that Tarsus achieved these accolades based on the fact that it has consistently met the changing needs of the South African channel and become synonymous with value-added service in the local reseller market.

"Tarsus` success has largely been due to its focus on the channel and its needs, rather than establishing itself simply as a logistics facility. While an effective warehousing and logistical support function is clearly paramount to the company`s core business, Tarsus` focus has always been to go beyond simply supplying products," he says.

"To a great degree, Tarsus` success lies in researching and understanding the market, the vendors, the resellers and the end-users and then creating services that exceed expectations," he continues.

"Our relationship with IBM stretches back to 1997, in line with Tarsus` policy to distribute only those products manufactured by the world`s best technology companies. Since then, the relationship has grown to a point where some of the most important solutions offered by Tarsus comprise IBM technologies and services," Keschner says.

IBM`s channel executive, Johnny Gounden, agrees with Keschner`s sentiments. "Tarsus has shown incredible levels of commitment to IBM, its resellers and, ultimately, the end customer. The company is closely involved in our strategy and we continually investigate new ways in which to serve the market together.

"The core IBM team at Tarsus comprises product specialists and engineers, both certified across IBM xSeries, PCD and Storage. Where the product specialists focus on market information and sales advice, the engineers provide a critical technical support role to resellers," he concludes.
