Tarsus scoops two international IBM awards

Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of JSE-listed MB Technologies, has received two prestigious international awards for its efforts in distributing IBM products.

IBM product manager Warren Small is the Top Performer for 2001, while Tarsus` IBM SA team has been voted as the Top PCD Distributor for 2001. Small will join about 23 local achievers from SA on a well-deserved trip to Borneo, Malaysia. Aside from the obvious benefits of the break, these handpicked few will network with company contacts from around the world.

A delighted Small said he was overwhelmed at the recognition and said this latest success is attributed to excellent support from management and his position within a highly effective and exciting company.

"I am very proud and there`s not much I can say except that it is something I will remember for a long time. I was not expecting this award and it is truly a reflection of the kind of company I am involved with and the management support I have received."

According to Ross Matthee, general manager of IBM at Tarsus, this award is a bonus to go with the team being awarded the Top PCD Distributor for 2001. This recognition is set against strict criteria established by IBM International and is only bestowed upon a team that consistently meets established targets. As general manager of the winning team, Matthee is scheduled to attend a four-day conference in San Francisco where he will meet up with international colleagues and other IBM representatives.

"This is really feather in our cap because it is an international award and again provides us with a unique opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals. The conference is a huge networking opportunity for us to discover new trends and ideas that we can utilise to further entrench our position in the local market."
