Tarsus takes lion`s share at HP channel awards

Johannesburg, 12 Jul 2005

Adding to its 20th birthday celebrations, Tarsus Technologies has proudly announced that it has once again walked away with the lion`s share of the HP channel awards.

Held in Kyalami recently, this annual event recognises HP South Africa`s top channel players, and these accolades are seen as a significant endorsement of the value Tarsus brings to the local market.

"As a channel-focused company, a great deal of HP`s growth and market share comes from the efforts put in by our distributors and resellers. The purpose of the awards is to thank our channel partners for their efforts and contributions during the past year, recognising the significant role they play in HP`s success," says Trish Simpson, partner business manager at HP South Africa.

The primary endorsement of Tarsus`s excellent capabilities as a distributor came through the `Distributor of the Year` accolade the company received. This award acknowledges the distributor that achieved the highest overall turnover in the six categories in which the local distribution market is active.

Tarsus was the clear leader in five of the categories, namely Imaging and Printing Group (IPG), Personal Systems Group (PSG), Industry Standard Servers (ISS), Storage Works Division (SWD), and HP Services (HPS).

Further testimony to Tarsus`s dedication and effort came in the form of the Best Growth awards the company walked away with in the PSG, SWD and Procurve Networking Business (PNB) categories.

Several other individual accolades were also awarded to Tarsus staff, with Pierre Spies scooping up the `Outstanding Executive in Distribution` award, Jason McMillan being awarded the `Outstanding Product Manager in Distribution` accolade, Alexis Scott walking away with the `Outstanding Sales Person` award, and Greg Pothitos rounding out the awards with `Best Services Attachment achieved by an HP Product Manager`.

"Collectively, these results are outstanding and HP South Africa is very proud of Tarsus`s achievements," Simpson continues.

Guy Whitcroft, CEO of Tarsus Technologies, says these awards reflect Tarsus`s strength in the local market and are very important to the company`s continued motivation.

"Achieving this level of recognition makes the hard work the Tarsus team puts in every day truly worthwhile.

"We are extremely proud of our achievements and believe they bear testimony that our efforts to help transform and empower the channel into being more focused on service provision and solutions are yielding positive results," Whitcroft says.

"Through Tarsus`s loyalty programmes like PartneRewards and skills development initiatives like Channel Business College, we annually invest a great deal in growing and supporting our reseller partners. Garnering endorsements from HP in this manner shows that the investment in these initiatives is money well spent. This also drives us to continue our focus on being the best distributor in the market, and reducing the channel`s overall costs of doing business," he concludes.
