Johannesburg, 13 Sep 2001

Tarsus Technologies, a member of the MB Technologies group, has announced the appointment of StopQ (

) as the latest addition to its growing Hewlett-Packard reseller base.

A traditional clicks-and-mortar store with an online offering, SopQ offers South African consumers a wide range of non-food merchandise, including audio-visual equipment, white appliances and hi-tech technology products.

"StopQ will be offering the entire range of HP products available at Tarsus Technologies, including laser printers, multi-function devices, notebooks and desktop PCs," says Jason McMillan, HP product manager at Tarsus. "Because the company offers both online and traditional purchasing facilities, they have an extensive customer base that is continually expanding."

"Since joining the Tarsus Technologies stable, we have enjoyed better response time, stock availability and pricing than other distributors," says Rashid Motala, merchandise executive at StopQ. "The company`s set up functions smoothly and their account executives are always a pleasure to deal with. Of all the HP products we offer, 90% come from Tarsus Technologies."

StopQ is part of Tanua Technologies, a large e-commerce group with the backing of some of SA`s most influential JSE-listed companies. These include Supergroup (Africa`s largest logistic company), Peregrine, African Harvest and Real Africa Durolink (all financial investment companies registered on the JSE), and Africam (SA`s second largest Web site - unlisted).

The company also has a blue chip list of business partners - MTN, Nedbank, Arthur Andersen and Dimension Data.

"StopQ is an online store where consumers can shop with absolute confidence. If offers secure online payment encryption technology, as well as solid guarantees and backup on all products," McMillan concludes.
