Tarsus Technologies introduces the Vectra VL410 PC from HP

Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2001

HP has announced the launch of the new PC, the HP Vectra VL410 - a powerful, robust addition to the renowned PC Professional line. The new Vectra VL410 is available from Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of JSE-listed MB Technologies.

The highly stable PC and cost-effective VL410 reduces lifecycle cost through comprehensive deployment, management and support solutions. According to Jason McMillan, HP business development manager at Tarsus Technologies: "The Vectra VL410 houses a Celeron processor and is geared to provide maximum benefits to any office environment."

The product features a number of technology highlights including:

* Intel Celeron 900MHz, 950MHz, 1000MHz or 1100MHz process with 128KB level-2 integrated cache on a 100MHz front side bus.

* 64, 128 or 256MB SDRAM memory at 133MHz, expandable to 512MB maximum on two memory slots.

* 16-bit stereo full duplex integrated sound with internal speaker option.

* Integrated Intel 10BT/100TX LAN.

* Package Desktop.

"With long product cycles, stable software images, tools and services to centrally deploy PCs and e-PCs, the HP professional line PCs help customers to reduce their workload and cost of deployment," continues McMillan.

An added advantage is that every professional PC from HP comes with HP Toptools that allows users to manage HP professional line PCs and non-HP PCs plus servers, printers and more. McMillan adds: "Combining the built-in manageability of HP professional line PCs with HP Toptools enables fewer IT resources to manage more PCs. It complements, and integrates with other network solutions such as HP Openview and Microsoft SMS."

For maximum PC system performance, the VL410 also comes with a choice of optical storage devices. These include the 16x Max-speed IDE DVD-ROM drive and the 48x Max-speed CD-ROM drive models.

"A user is now able to adapt their standard software image more quickly and less frequently on the HP professional line PC," says McMillan. "The professional line PCs come with an image creation and recovery CD-ROM in the box. This CD-ROM allows users to recover their pre-installed software."

McMillan concludes: "The HP Vectra VL410 is the ideal PC if one needs expandability, performance and legacy support to keep headroom for growth, or simply adapt to one`s needs."
